Gee, I see that I didn't read your question very well. Would it be too much of a pain to remove the HDD, and hook it up to a Bytecc USB / IDE cable, and copy them onto the HDD from another PC or laptop? Then they could be accessed from their folder when the HDD is re-installed and booted.

If you have another computer (with a serial
port...) you should be able to use a null modem cable and winterm to transfer a
file, I suppose.

  Subject: [OB] HDD change for
OB800CT

My wife is in need of a portable computer
with wireless so I was trying to press one of the old OB800CTs into
service. I thought I had put in an old OB HDD but it turned out to be a
20GB one from an old Portege 3020CT. Win98 is on the disc so after some
churning it booted, much to my surprise. But so far the PCMCIA ports
don't work and it freezes when I attach the OB CDROM. Any ideas how I
can get the OB drivers on without starting from scratch? Somewhere I
have an old Avatar Shark parallel port drive and an old Zip drive but haven't
tried them yet. Maybe load files from the parallel port? Thanks
  for any info, Scott Stewart
