[OB] Is this list alive? ...now Lazarus OB3/4xx's

I have revived OB3/4xx's that had exactly the same symptom, or had arrived with the seller reporting them - and seemingly accurately - totally dead.

Try pulling the battery out, holding down the reset button and plugging the power in. Try hold the blue button down while doing the above. Leave the a/c plugged in and with the machine on *while* you pull the battery out, turn it off with the blue button and back on again. Try some AA batteries. Try pulling the C: drive first. Try holding the blue button and F2 while plugging the a/c in; repeat a half dozen times. Just try as many variations on these as you can ...get creative ...don't just give up: I've had machines (I went nuts and own way too many of the little b/w's) that I though were just dead parts boxes suddenly spring back to life. If it was working when you set it on the shelf, it will probably still work. My experience suggests that they merely go into comas, and often they're not really dead.

...well, capacitors can leak ...but it just sounds suspicious to me that you've *two* dead machines.

I should have mentioned that I am aware of the reset button and used it repeatedly in my attempts to revive the 425. Any ideas why these machines worked when I put them on the shelf but won't revive? Thanks. ================From: Andrew Lovell Subject: Re: [OB] Is this list alive? HiThere is a recessed re-set button - underneath on the 600 and beside the power connector on the 800. If there is a reset button on your computers, try pressing it and see what happens. My 600 would not charge once, until I had pressed the re-set button.By the way, I was thinking of installing Linux on one of my Omnibooks. Has anybody ever heard of a 16-bit USB / PCMCIA adapter?YoursAndrew Lovell
