I will upload anything useful to my archive server (http://24.237.160.4) for everyone
to share. Although the materials are indeed copyrighted, I don't think anyone
cares anymore. HP has given me permission to share all Omnibook and other HP
computer manuals and such as long as they are over five years old.

Hi,

I suppose I won't really infringe a copyright if I send you such
an obsolete software. What is the opinion of users of the list ?

I'll scan the relevant part of the manual and send it to you
tomorrow with the program (unless guys on the list tell me
I must not do it !)

Regards,
Jean-Yves

The mailman (or woman in this case) came today carrying

a package containing the OB 425 I ordered from Compules.

I have been testing it for the last ten minutes and for a second

hand machine (and I have owned plenty) it is in great condition,

almost like new.

I replaced the 40Mb harddrive with a 64Mb CF card I had

in a desk drawer and the 425 is completly silent. Odd that,

a completly silent computer...

How does one disable the compression? OBmax?

Hi !

The address of Compules was given by Marlous Weldt who bought

a 430 there before me. We both have to thank her a lot !

When I received the OB425, I installed a CF card (with an adapter)

in the C drive. If I remember well, the OB does not accept too big

cards, probably because of some bios limitations. In A and B slots

the limit seems to be over 252 Mb but below 512 Mb. I have not

tried in C drive but it is probably similar.

The important point is (in my opinion) to disable the doublespace

compression that slowers the machine. This was wery useful when

flash cards were very expensive but is now useless.

To do this I used OBmax software, provided by Bob (apparently not

on the list anymore) when he sold me a OB300 (the one that fell

from a high tower).

Good luck with your brand new machine !

Jean-Yves
